Short Course, Non-Vocational Courses
Central Health Institute offers multiple non-vocational short course trainings to enhance students skills and learning. These courses are designed to provide skill-specific training in a 1-2 day format, and most include an exam and certification at the end of the course.
Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care Training Program (GPA)
This workshop enhances the Personal Support Workers skills and knowledge to encourage using a person-centered, compassionate, and gentle persuasive approach. Upon completion, the PSW can respond respectfully and with confidence and skill to responsive or challenging behaviors associated with dementia and cognitive impairments.
This program is available for students within the Personal Support Worker program only.
First Aid/CPR Training Program
The First Aid/CPR Training is designed to instruct the skills necessary to provide immediate care and assistance to an ill or injured person until more advanced care can be obtained. It is a beneficial set of skills to anyone that may find themselves in a situation where they could be required to provide First Aid or CPR support.
This program is included in all of our Vocational Training programs, but can also be taken by members of the general public. Please contact our office for schedules, costs, and requirements
Managing Food Safety Training Program
Managing Food Safety (MFS) is a nationally approved certification course that effectively teaches food handlers the importance of preparing and serving food safely, using engaging interactive elements to make the experience memorable for all learners.
This program is included in the Food Service Worker training program, but can also be taken by members of the general public. Please contact our office for schedules, costs, and requirements
